Wondering if your sore throat may be strep throat? The sooner you know what type of illness you have, the faster you can get treated and on your way to recovery.
A sore throat can be caused by viruses, bacteria, allergies, or other exposures. You may want to consider a strep throat test if you are experiencing a sore throat, headache, body aches (including neck and back), nausea, stomach ache, runny nose, congestion, or cough. A sandpaper-like pink rash can also present on the face, especially in children.
Strep throat is a contagious infection caused by a bacteria called group A Streptococcus (group A strep) and can be passed to others through kissing, saliva, sharing utensils, drinks, etc.
A strep test is administered via throat swab. Results will be shared to your Sameday Health portal within 30 minutes.

Within minutes, our rapid strep throat test can show the presence of a bacteria called group A Streptococcus, which if left undetected and untreated, can cause complications including kidney inflammation or rheumatic fever.
